New Video: Up-and-Coming Singer/Songwriter Minke Releases an Emotionally Honest Visual for Anthemic "Too Late"
New Video: Up-and-Coming Singer/Songwriter Minke Releases an Emotionally Honest Visual for Anthemic "Too Late" @minke @highrisepr
Over the past year or so, I’ve written a bit about the London-born and-based based singer/songwriter and musician Minke (pronounced as to rhyme with the word “link”), and as you may recall with the release of singles “Gold Angel” and “Armour,” the British singer/songwriter and pop artist quickly became a buzz-worthy artist: “Gold…

Best of 2019 a.k.a. A New Way of Listening to Music
Hello, everyone. Here are some thoughts on the music I listened to in 2019. My listening trends in 2019 stayed pretty much the same as they did in 2018- Most of the albums I loved were written and performed by women... Most of the albums I loved fell somewhere on the wide spectrum of guitar-based music, with a little bit of electronic stuff here and there. What changed was the way I listened to music. Whereas in the past I listened to whatever came my way, whenever it came my way, in 2019 I tried to focus on one or two albums a week. From late-January through the end of November, I highlighted one album every week on my Instagram page. There were only a couple of weeks I missed or that I highlighted an old album instead of a new one. I found myself listening to full albums on repeat and really getting into every song. The result is an end-of-year list that is free from my perception of outside expectations. All of my past lists have been made with this voice in my head that wants to move albums up or down on the list based on whether it was well-reviewed or not, or whether or not my friends and family (especially those whose opinions on music I revere) might judge me for liking a record too much, or, more likely, not liking a record enough. The 2019 list is free of those anxiety-driven choices, and as a result, it was one of my favourite lists I've ever put together. If you listen to a song that I've highlighted here, I encourage you to buy or stream the album (but especially buy it) and take in the whole thing. -Jenksy As always, I'm kicking off the list with my Most Disappointing Album of the Year. It's the only album on the list I write anything about- not because it deserves to be roasted, but because you don't really have to justify liking a piece of art, but you should always be able to talk about why you dislike it. Following that are my favourite EPs of the year, then the Top 50. The Most Disappointing Album of 2019
Tumblr media
Weezer - Weezer (Black Album) I feel like I've given Weezer a lot more leeway than most have done in the last 10-15 years. While they've put out some good records and some bad records in that span, I've always tried to accept the music as Weezer being Weezer. Just because they've put out some critically adored albums doesn't mean they can't have fun. Their pop-rock vibes don't bother me, and I don't try to compare everything they do to Pinkerton or the Blue Album. I'm saying all this so you know that I like this band, and have done for most of my life, and I think they will make a good album again. However, the Black Album is not a good album. I can't even hesitate in calling it terrible. It lacks emotion and is too crisp and clean. It's driven by words that don't mean anything and music that wants to be catchy instead of interesting. Hopefully they bounce back, but the Black Album is easily the lowest they've fallen, musically. EPs

Minke is yet another magnetic musician we’re looking forward to catching at SXSW next month. As if we needed more convincing after stunning songs like Too Late and Maybe 25, the British artist displays her dazzling vocal prowess and emotive delivery on recent single Something Better, lifted from her debut EP The Tearoom, out March 8th. Something Better is a sweeping, soaring aria, but it’s still quite the intimate confessional, too. She turns in a performance much like Sara Bareilles gone Maggie Rogers, rooted in a mostly sparse soundscape dappled with a HAIM-like searing bassline and expressive keys. More tour dates will be announced soon. Stream/purchase Something Better, here.

Minke Anticipates Love in Soulful “Something Better”
Tumblr media
Still in the romantic mood of Valentine’s Day, British singer-songwriter Minke takes a soulful approach to her quest for love in her latest single, “Something Better.”
In contrast to her last single, “Too Late,” which revealed the fleeting end of a relationship, “Something Better” follows the very first, promising moments. Through flawless vocals and earnest lyrics, Minke perfectly captures the anticipation of falling in love, from the impatience of waiting to the optimism of a better future with a partner. This remarkable single is included in Minke’s highly anticipated debut EP, The Tearoom, set to release on March 8. Drawing inspiration from alternative rock and R&B, Minke’s unique blend is sure to make a diverse collection of gems in The Tearoom.
Around the same time as her EP release, Minke has been confirmed to perform at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Until then, we’ll have “Something Better” on repeat:

British singer/songwriter Minke shares new track “Too Late”
Up and coming U.K. singer/songwriter, Minke, releases her shimmery, breezy new single “Too Late.”
Minke is excited to start her live show on April 5 at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, California. Get tickets here.
Minke is just recently off the release of her debut EP, The Tearoom, and a trip to Austin, TX for SXSW and plethora of showcases at the fame music & arts festival.
The music video for “Too Late” was directed by actress, comedian, and director, Aisha Tyler. The videos stars Minke alongside Jean-Luc Bilodeau (from ABC’s ‘Baby Daddy’).
Minke collaborated effortlessly with Tyler, she said. In a press release, she explained, “I couldn’t have asked for a more talented and supportive screen partner in Jean Luc to bring this broken relationship alive and I’m proud of the end result. It feels wholly representative of the song as it captures the dizzy confusion I was feeling at the time when I wrote it and I can’t wait for people to see it!”

SONG PICK: Minke - Bite the Bullet
https://i2.wp.com/glamglare.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/minke-sxsw.jpg?fit=800%2C600&ssl=1
Still buzzing with the excitement of having seen Minke live at The British Embassy for SXSW, I am back in the hotel and deciding on a #glamglarepick for today is an obvious choice. “Bite the Bullet”, the new single of the British singer, songwriter and guitarist was live as fantastic as is the recorded version.
Leah Mason, who goes by the artist name Minke, exchanged London with Los Angeles and just released a seven tracks EP “The Tearoom”. She plays the piano as well as drums, yet on stage she “only” sang and played guitar and both was superbly exquisite! When Minke broke out to the one or the other guitar solo, the audience was super quiet and watched and listened in awe. The lyrics to “Bite the Bullet”, like all of Minke’s lyrics, are something one enjoys to explore. Great songwriting, exquisitely executed. Listen to “Bite the Bullet” now:
Follow Minke on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and listen to her new EP, about which the artist says:
“Songwriting is my therapy, it’s what I’ve done since I first picked up a guitar when I was eleven. It’s the only thing that makes me feel better, so it’s what I do. When people listen to the Tearoom, I hope they get whatever they need from it. It could be reassurance or someone to identify with. That’s what makes me happy. It’s all I can do.”

Last week, UK-born Minke released her debut EP The Tearoom. The burgeoning pop star combines her love of classic rock and blues with her pop obsession. The result of this hybridity is a set of seven genre-defying, pop-but-not tracks that drip with atmosphere and heady, hazy vocals. EARMILK chatted to Minke about the EP release and how her […]

New Audio: Minke Releases Her Most Emotionally Honest Song to Date
New Audio: Minke Releases Her Most Emotionally Honest Song to Date @minke @highrisepr
If you were frequenting this site last year, you may have come across a post featuring the London-born and-based based singer/songwriter and musician Minke (pronounced as to rhyme with the word “link”), and as you may recall with the release of her first tow singles “Gold Angel” and “Armour,” the British singer/songwriter and pop…

Even though close to six months have passed since Minke released her last single Maybe 25, we've yet to shake its everlasting spell due to its lush billowing refinement, as well as the rising Londoner’s remarkable voice, so much like a resonant ringing composite of all that we love about London Grammar’s Hannah Reid and canorous songsmith Freya Ridings. The British musician makes a stunning return today with Too Late, a propulsive driving, brisk bustling new pop single from her forthcoming debut EP, The Tearoom, out March 8th. Having received widespread critical acclaim for her past releases, Minke is poised to break out big in 2019 with her synth-lavish single, which made its debut as a World First via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music. Minke reveals the inspiration behind the track: “This was a moment after a bad break up that I needed to get out my system. I was trying to rationalize it and take the high road but knew what had happened was wrong so I was annoyed and reveling in the petty, just for a second. Thank you, next." Minke’s voice takes flight with much ravishing luster as she sweeps us away with her staggering return. Sometimes, music is just what we need to free our hearts from the bitterness and spite that oft accompanies life’s heartaches and sorrows. Soaring Too Late not only exorcises those stubborn demons, but it lifts our hearts sky high. Minke will be appearing at this year’s SXSW following the release of The Tearoom. More tour dates will be announced shortly, too.

Minke Channels Her Inner Ariana Grande in “Too Late”
Tumblr media
Over the course of a handful of critically-acclaimed singles, British musician Minke has proven herself to be a versatile artist more than deserving of the world’s ear. Embodying a wealth of genre influences, from alternative rock, R&B, to pop, each new single thus far has demonstrated the seemingly endless depth that is Minke’s artistic vision. Minke’s latest single, “Too Late,” continues the marked trend, as the British artist takes to the world of electro-pop to deliver a spirited breakup anthem.
Premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1, “Too Late” channels Minke’s inner Ariana Grande to wondrous effect. Through an array of nostalgic-yet-futuristic production, Minke’s soulful voice carries us through the final moments of a relationship. Painting a picture of two people who want two completely different things from one another, “Too Late” deftly strays the line between passionate emotional outpour and glistening feel-great electro-pop. And while the classic breakup anthem is nothing new to the world of pop, or music as a whole for that matter, Minke lends her own distinguishing voice to the pantheon of great breakup tracks before her. Minke spoke on the inspiration for “Too Late,” sharing,
“This was a moment after a bad break up that I needed to get out my system. I was trying to rationalize it and take the high road but knew what had happened was wrong, so I was annoyed and reveling in the petty, just for a second. Thank you, next."
The artist’s most pop-leaning single to date, “Too Late” is not only irrefutably infectious, as any great pop song should hope to be, but is yet another brilliant showcasing of how far Minke’s songwriting talent extends. No matter the context, Minke provides a distinctive voice that we cannot help but praise.
Listen to “Too Late” below, and keep an eye out for Minke’s debut EP, The Tearoom, due out March 8:

This single begins with dramatic piano chords, leading listeners into a chorus of multiple harmonies, all of which hold a gospel-like quality. Minke grasped the world’s attention […]
